Another day of decent progress plus one new start – this will be a black and white oil painting of a nude. I have done a couple of these, and I really like the fact that without colour, there is no distraction from the impact of the pose. For today, I am showing a pastel of a monk. In Thailand, where I met this monk, a person can be a monk for any amount of time. Thus, a man might feel the need to pay a debt to society and serve at a temple for a few years, then return to regular life. Quite a good idea, allowing a true penance for someone to redeem himself with in his own eyes. Anyway, to me, after that, the robe was the permanence and its inhabitant was a fleeting story. I did a series of robes in various activities in pastel.
