Lots of scanning today, and I came across this image. Young Nell worked in the family laundry business. Her job was to sit in a repurposed hayloft and open bundles of laundry. She would check the ink mark identifying the customer on every piece, and then sort it into bins to be washed according to its type. An awful job when you think about it. She never once complained.
